What headlight restoration actually involves

Headlight lenses are polycarbonate with a factory UV coating. When that coating fails, the plastic oxidizes, turns yellow, and scatters light. On a dark rural road out toward Battle Ground or La Center, a hazed lens can cut usable light dramatically.

The repair is mechanical: wet sand through the failed coating in stages, polish the plastic back to clarity, then seal it with a fresh UV layer. Skipping the sealing step is why cheap restorations go yellow again in a few months.

Both headlights are $100. If the lens is cracked or moisture is trapped inside the housing, restoration will not fix that and I will say so.

What's included

  • Masking of surrounding paint
  • Multi-stage wet sanding of oxidized plastic

Questions about headlight restoration in Vancouver WA

How long does headlight restoration last?

A couple of years or more when it is sealed properly. Unsealed restorations fade within months.

Will it pass inspection or improve night driving?

Clearing the lens restores light output and beam pattern, which is the point. It cannot fix a burnt-out bulb or a cracked housing.
